Aaron SmithThe City of Noblesville is pleased to announce that Noblesville Common Councilor Aaron Smith has been selected as one of the Indianapolis Business Journal’s (IBJ) “Forty Under 40” for 2024. Each year, the award seeks to celebrate the unique accomplishments of central Indiana’s business, government, and non-profit leaders.

“We’ve embraced Noblesville’s challenges and opportunities in a unique way over the past five years, and organizations like the IBJ have taken notice,” said Smith. “I’m grateful to work alongside Mayor Chris Jensen, our council, and a dynamic administration to enhance the quality of life in Noblesville.”

As the council’s president in 2023, Smith’s leadership proved pivotal in driving several key initiatives forward. He played a crucial role in the successful effort to bring the Pacers’ G-League team to Noblesville and central Indiana. Smith also championed a groundbreaking salary increase for Noblesville’s public safety officials and led negotiations on the high-profile Pulte/Del Webb development to ensure the project aligned with the city’s long-term vision for Wayne Township.

Mayor Jensen, who was named to the IBJ “Forty Under 40” list in 2020, has had the privilege of working closely with Smith during his first term, especially during his time as council president.

“Aaron’s impact on Noblesville’s growth over the past four years is undeniable, but it’s his strategic mindset that truly sets him apart,” said Jensen. “Aaron’s leadership will be crucial in ensuring Noblesville’s success for years to come.”

Jensen noted Smith’s leadership as indispensable in maintaining a productive working relationship with other elected officials in Hamilton County, particularly during the first year of the Reimagine Pleasant Street project.

“The entirety of this long-overdue infrastructure project runs through his district, and he’s been one of the most crucial council members helping the city champion this difficult development. His efforts have played an essential role in keeping Pleasant Street on time and on budget,” Jensen said.

Smith currently serves as the 3rd District representative on the Noblesville Council, leads the Downtown District Committee, and previously served as the council president and vice president. He and his wife, Bronwen, live in downtown Noblesville with their two kids. Smith also owns a small business with offices on the square and serves on the boards of Noblesville Main Street and the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
