NOBLESVILLE PLANNING DEPARTMENT AND PROMISE ROAD ELEMENTARY TO PARTNER ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY FOR NEW "BOX CITY" PROGRAM

 

WHO:             City of Noblesville Planning Department staff, students from Ball State University's Urban Planning Graduate Program, and administrators, teachers, and 3rd and 4th grade students at Promise Road Elementary School

WHAT:          Construction of Box City, a national program which teaches students about the planning processes that are necessary to successfully develop and expand a community.  This is the first known Box City program to be conducted in Indiana.   

WHEN:          Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8, 2013  

WHERE:        Promise Road Elementary School

                        14975 Promise Road in Noblesville

WHY:             Planning Department staff and BSU graduate students will work with Promise Road students to teach them about community planning through the construction of a "Box City."  Third graders will construct "buildings" out of boxes using City of Noblesville procedures such as permit requirements, zoning standards, etc.  Fourth grade students will determine the master layout of the city.
