Sunday marks the 2021 Noblesville Fireworks Festival and the city is excited about the expanded, free events taking place with the parade downtown and the fireworks festival at Forest Park.
“Noblesville is home to the longest continuously running Fourth of July celebration in Central Indiana and we are planning another great community gathering,” said Mayor Chris Jensen. “I know more families and residents are eager to get out this summer and Sunday’s forecast should make it a very enjoyable day to celebrate our nation’s independence.”
Parade
The festivities kick off with the annual Fourth of July Parade presented by Gaylor Electric Inc. at 4:30 p.m. The parade route is the same through downtown – 16th Street to Logan Street; Logan to Ninth Street; Ninth to Monument Street; and Monument to 16th Street. Kristen Boice will be leading this year’s parade as grand marshal.
Fireworks Festival
The free Fireworks Festival, presented by IDI Composites International, will take place at Forest Park from 6 to 10 p.m. The event will include traditional park amenities such as playgrounds, shelters and shade; along with festival items like a mobile zipline, an axe throwing trailer, flying trapeze, food court, an Armed Forces Action Zone, Teen Area, Kids Zone and a dozen inflatable bounce houses for different age groups. This year’s Kids Zone will have six balloon artists, six glitter tattoo artists and a trackless train to ride. An adult area will include a beer garden and games. Hairbangers Ball will perform on the Republic Services Main Stage from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Fireworks
This year’s fireworks show will begin at 10 p.m. It is presented by T-Mobile, Midwest Paving, RISE Commercial District, Atlas Excavating and East Bank of Noblesville sponsored by J C Hart and Republic Development.
Attendees can view the fireworks at the festival, but the city also is making Federal Hill Commons available as a socially-distant public viewing area. Those interested in viewing the fireworks but not attending the festival are encouraged to visit Federal Hill Commons instead, as it will allow families to spread out and view the fireworks while being closer to available parking. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to watch the show. Beginning at 9 p.m., Kona Ice will be onsite selling treats at Federal Hill.
Noblesville Police will assist in crossing traffic at Conner Street and State Road 19 and event workers will be at Federal Hill to assist guests. For those who are unable to attend, Hamilton County Television will be livestreaming the fireworks at www.hctv1.com and on its social media pages.
Parking
No public parking will be available inside the park. The Forest Park Aquatic Center and Noblesville Chamber of Commerce are selling parking passes for $25. Parking permits must be displayed to enter Forest Park at Field Drive and State Road 19. No passes will be available to purchase during the event. The city will run a free trolley service throughout the event and will have additional transportation following the fireworks show to help guests return to their vehicles. The public is encouraged to use Noblesville High School’s parking lot, which has four trolley stops.
The parking lot at the Noblesville Schools’ Community Center on Field Drive will be designated for handicap parking. This lot will have a stop for wheelchair accessible transportation. All downtown public lots will be available and free to park in on the holiday and guests can walk to the festival using the pedestrian bridge across the White River or State Road 19.
A map of the trolley routes and park festivities has been created to help guests plan where to park and what attractions they will want to visit during the festival. Shuttle routes will use Field Drive and Cumberland Road to efficiently transport guests.
Around 5:30 p.m., State Road 19 will be closed from Field Drive to Logan Street. This was recommended by the Indiana State Police and local law enforcement to provide safe passage of walkers from nearby parking. Vehicles will be detoured around the event site. Schwartz’s Bait and Tackle and U-Haul rental at 118 Cicero Road will be open for business during the closure. Their parking lot is for customers only and violators may be towed away.
Nickel Plate Express
The Nickel Plate Express will offer 30-minute rides during the festival at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. for $13. Tickets can be purchased in advance at NickelPlateExpress.com or onsite at the Nickel Plate Express ticket booth.
